LOS ANGELES: Universal Pictures has acquired an untitled comedy pitch with Meryl Streep, Sandra Bullock, and Oprah Winfrey attached to star.

Michael Patrick King, who wrote and directed the Sex and the City movie and its sequel as well as the original HBO series, will pull double duty on this concept.

The comedy will center on the world of a home shopping network as the three women “make their way through the maze of mania that surrounds marketing, marriages and the media,” reports Deadline. King plans to finish the script by January.

Scheduling will be the biggest issue since Bullock is committed to starring in Gravity and attached to several others following her Oscar win.

Meryl “T-Bone” Streep does just about whatever she wants, but she’s set to appear alongside Julia Roberts in August: Osage County. Oprah is, of course, busy with her regular television show, magazine, and all-around empire. This will be her first live-action appearance since 1998’s Beloved.

King’s limited experience and “Sex and the City” background don’t exactly inspire confidence, but he certainly managed to convince a dream team of female leads to unite so he’s brewing something fascinating based on the cast alone.

With that sort of celebrity power, the pressure is definitely on to deliver a script worthy of its attached talent and the inevitable intense public scrutiny. He may have assembled an impressive ensemble, but King has his work cut out for him now.

The TV host, who was herself nominated for an Academy Award for her role in 1985's The Color Purple, will appear in a currently-untitled new comedy created by Sex and The City writer Michael Patrick King, the Daily Express reports.

Her debut album Pink Friday hits stores on November 22nd. Nicki Minaj takes a dramatic turn in the video for her latest single “Right Thru Me.” Fitting with the stripped-down tone of the song, the Dian
Martel-directed video portrays Minaj and her beau’s turbulent relationship.
It’s very well shot, and Minaj does a pretty good job with her acting parts (she did major in drama at Laguardia, after all). We love Nicki’s wacky voices and costumes and colorful personality, but it’s great to see her show range and actually be relatable in this video.Martel-directed video portrays Minaj and her beau’s turbulent relationship.

LOS ANGELES: Whatever your opinion of Justin Bieber, one thing's for sure: Even when he was 3, the guy could lay down a solid drum break.

The first full trailer for the Bieb's 3-D movie Never Say Never is here, and while it's full of the requisite skinny jeans, stylish hoodies and blown-out hair, it also features several revealing moments of Bieber before he became a music phenomenon...

From the looks of the trailer, the movie seems to be shaping up as a full Bieber retrospective, not just a concert video with some skits thrown in, a la the Jonas Brothers and their attempt.

In Never Say Never we get actual home video of young Justin (well, younger than the world-weary 16 he is now) showing off multi-instrumental music skills, behind-the-scenes glimpses into the stresses of touring and interviews with some of his mentors, aka Usher.

Add to that the prowess of director Jon Chu (Step Up 3D) and Bieber's story is not only in good hands, it looks like it'll deliver on what it promises: A compelling look into the life of this 21st century superstar. Never Say Never hits theaters Feb. 11.

The movie is a total look at Bieber though…from his early life to what his life is like now being mobbed by screaming fans and hanging out with celebrities like Usher. It’s an intimate look at one of pop’s most exciting young stars.

You have to rest because you’re going to be busy! Why do you think you wake up every two hours to go to the bathroom? Because it’s a rehearsal for when you have to breastfeed every two hours. It’s all planned you know,” says Celine Dion.
Celine Dion has revealed that the nursery for the twins is still not complete as she was very nervous about the delivery due to all the complications. However, now she will try to finish it off amidst taking care of the twins.

Scientists have developed three new mangos in the Northern Territory and the region's primary industry minister Kon Vatskalis wants one named for the pint-sized former "Neighbours" star who has won worldwide fame as a singer.
"I think Kylie should be so lucky to have this mango variety named after her," Vatskalis said in a statement Wednesday.
"She is the princess of pop and just like royalty it would be fitting to have a Territory icon named after her."
Vatskalis said he would send Minogue a batch of the mangos so she could be one of the first people to sample the new varieties of the tropical fruit.
The three new versions, developed after 16 years of research as part of Australia's National Mango Breeding Program, have a higher blush colour which is designed to make them more appealing to shoppers.
They are also more productive and able to be harvested for longer than current varieties.
Vatskalis said he would lobby the breeding programme to name the mango after Minogue before of its expected release for sale in late 2012.

Katrina Kaif has never admitted to her relationship with Salman Khan in the last eight years. Although they acted  together and she was a permanent fixture at his home, she had maintained they were only friends.

But on Tuesday in an interview to a daily, she admitted that she'd split from the Dabangg actor.

An industry source reveals, "On Monday, an article in a morning newspaper carried quotes of an old interview of  Katrina, in which she'd spoken about Salman and her closeness to him. This upset the actress, who has been trying to maintain a strictly professional relationship with her ex."

The actress called up the higher-ups in the organisation and told them that she wanted to clear the air about Salman. The following day, her interview admitting to her split was flashed in the front page of a city tabloid under the heading: For The First Time.

So the question is: Why did Katrina finally come clean about Sallu? Says an insider, "That interview made matters embarrassing for her. She is seeing Ranbir now, and the Kapoor khandaan have welcomed her into their fold. How would she explain an interview gushing about Salman being a '4 am friend'?"

Latest News of Bollywood update

It seems Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone have buried the hatchet. Both the actresses will be seen performing together at a show in Las Vegas this December.

Earlier, we had reported that Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif and Hrithik Roshan were going to perform at this show in Las Vegas. Now, a brand new addition to the clan is Deepika Padukone. And if all goes well, Deepika and Katrina will perform together on stage as a part of this show.

The last time Deepika got uncomfortable with Katrina was over Ranbir Kapoor. Deepika had flown down to Bhopal where Ranbir was shooting with Katrina for Raajneeti, fearing that Ranbir and Kats might be getting too close for comfort. At that time, Deepika and Ranbir were in a very steady relationship.
But even after the two broke up, Deepika did not quite warm up to Kats. Recently, when both actresses bumped into each other at a photo shoot, they almost looked through each other.

Now, that Ranbir is completely out of Deepika's life (which she has more than reaffirmed by tattooing her own initials on her foot) it seems Deepika has no issues in being civil (for starters) with Katrina.

The two are getting ready to set the stage on fire for a forthcoming show in Las Vegas on December 18.
A source reveals, "The organisers were a little apprehensive about pulling this show off but it seems everything is falling into place. Both the girls (Deepika and Katrina) have worked out their dates and have given a green signal to this show."
The spokesperson of Carving Dreams (organisers of the show), neither confirmed nor denied the news.

Wicketkeeper Brad Haddin and fast bowler Peter Siddle were also included as they continue their recovery from injury. Australia face Sri Lanka on November 3, 5 and 7.

Ponting faced calls for his resignation after returning from the Test series defeat to India which pushed Australia down to fifth in the rankings -- one spot below arch-rivals England.

WASHINGTON: The US cannot win its war in Afghanistan without neighboring Pakistan, according to US-based Wall Street Journal analysis published on Tuesday.

The newspaper article said about President Asif Ali Zardari that he has aided the U.S. military effort in a way his predecessor Pervez Musharraf, supposedly a pro-American strongman, never did.

So, the US was advised in the article to build on a relationship, quietly and incrementally, not to tear down.

The analysis further said, “Equally helpful would be to stop mindlessly demanding that military assistance to Pakistan go toward fighting the Taliban instead of arming against India. The missing ingredient in Pakistan's counterinsurgency effort isn't the right military tool kit, such as night-vision goggles or Apache helicopters. It's the will of the Pakistani general staff to cooperate more fully in the fight. If that cooperation can be secured by selling conventional weapons such as F-15s and M-1 tanks to Pakistan, so much the better.

“(As for India, it has less to fear from a reasonably well-armed, confident Pakistani army that has strong ties to the U.S. than it does from a poorly armed Pakistan that mistrusts the U.S. and continues to consort with jihadists as a way of compensating for its weakness.)

“Finally, the administration ought to understand that Pakistan's reluctance to defeat the Taliban at any price is a mirror image of our own reluctance. The July 2011 "deadline" to begin withdrawing troops was bound to affect Islamabad's calculations, and not for the better. The sooner we junk it, the better the cooperation we'll get.”

Bollywood actress Asin Thottumkal will bring in her 25th birthday today by spending time with three of her girlfriends who are in Mumbai especially for the birthday surprise. The actress is also expecting gold jewellery as a gift from her mother, something that Asin says is an annual ritual.

In her birthday resolutions, Asin seems to have decided to not be very choosy when it comes to the selection of scripts in Bollywood. Although she is quite a sensation down South, since her blockbuster Bollywood debut in 2008 with Aamir Khan in Ghajini, Asin has found little commercial success.  Her next film after Ghajini, London Dreams, where she was starring opposite Salman Khan, fizzled at the box-office. This probably made Asin over-cautious and she started picking and choosing her scripts with extra care. That’s why we have seen so little of her since London Dreams.

But Asin fans need not worry, as the actress will return to the silver-screen in an action film opposite Salman Khan! For now, here’s wishing the bubbly actress a very happy birthday!

, A Bollywood-Hollywood dud
BANGALORE, India — Take a Bollywood film where the protagonist is named Jai (meaning victory) so he can pass off as Jay in Los Angeles, where he lives. Add some racy bits, chop off a song or two, mix in some Hollywood sound and then shrink its final length by a third.

Behold, the first true-blue attempt at a Bollywood-Hollywood crossover.

"Kites" is a big-budget potboiler, much-hyped by a profuse publicity budget and extensive, worldwide distribution. But the Mumbai film industry is now trying to figure out whether it will now be counted as the world’s first crossover box office dud.

Despite an attempt to straddle both desi (Indian) and global audiences, the film has failed to light up the box office either in India or in North America. Given the cinematic distance between a Bollywood movie and a Hollywood flick, the right question might be whether "crossovers" are even a realistic possibility.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekk0G8oa7N4&feature=player_embedded
"Kites" is neither Bollywood nor Hollywood so its failure holds no surprises, said New York-based Bollywood critic Aseem Chhabra. “Some call it a bad Bollywood movie trying to be a bad Hollywood movie,” he says.
Indian audiences haven't responded to the dialogue and characters of the film, said Bollywood filmmaker Mahesh Nair. “Unlike the typical expat Indians portrayed in Karan Johar, Vipul Shah or YashRaj films, Kites’ characters do not talk or observe Indian customs or mannerisms,” said Nair.

The "Kites" fiasco comes at a time when Hollywood’s movie industry is waking up to the size and power of India’s wild-about-the-movies audiences. The two brawny filmmaking centers are increasingly moving together. Two big-budget movies Saawariya and Chandni Chowk to China were financed by Sony Pictures and Warner Bros., but were both box office disasters.

Indian money is backing a David Duchovny-Demi Moore film "The Joneses."  Mumbai’s Reliance Big Entertainment has a partnership with Steven Spielberg’s DreamWorks and has production deals with the likes of George Clooney and Julia Roberts.

Non-Indian films earned just over $108 million in India in 2009 and even "Avatar," the highest grosser, made only $22.4 million. Compare that with the $74.5 million made by "3 Idiots," last year’s highest earner in India, and it is clear which films rake in the moolah.

So "Kites," the big hope at cracking the Indian and global audiences simultaneously, opened in 2,000 screens worldwide. That included 200 in the United States alone, the splashiest opening by any Bollywood movie so far. But the film has only grossed $1 million in North America in the first weekend of its release, less than recent Bollywood hits "3 Idiots" and "My Name is Khan," which had far less marketing and distribution muscle.

The movie stars Indian immigrant Jai played by Indian pin-up Hrithik Roshan, and Mexican immigrant Linda, played by Mexican star Barbara Mori, who are both hustlers looking to marry wealth. Roshan is a Salsa teacher in Los Angeles who makes extra cash by marrying girls in need of green cards. The two realize they are in love, get drawn into an ugly world of gangsters and flee through Mexico.

The story cut thin with Indian audiences. One reviewer on the popular Rediff.com likened "Kites" to a plate of bhel puri (Mumbai’s favorite street snack) with an unappetizing salsa dressing. He said it left him with an unpleasant aftertaste.

Many movie-crazy Indians said they simply could not identify with the mix of English, Spanish and Hindi dialogues. “The Hindi was almost an afterthought,” said avid Bangalore film-goer Ashutosh Jatin. “The movie would have sunk had it not been for Hrithik Roshan’s appeal.”

The movie's poor showing proves it is not easy to make a Bollywood film with universal appeal. Hollywood studios can spend fistfuls of dollars but as long as they are all mixed-up about the ingredients and audiences of Bollywood cinemas, Indian production houses will rule.

There might be one bright side to "Kites," however. Bollywood idol Hrithik Roshan, with his chiseled good looks and stupendous dancing skills, is wowing many Americans. Maybe something can be retrieved from "Kites" after all — not a crossover film but, perhaps, a crossover star?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekk0G8oa7N4&feature=player_embeddedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekk0G8oa7N4&feature=player_embedded

Actor Vivek Oberoi's fiancée Priyanka Alva was horrified with the actor's performance in the recently-released Rakht Charitra made by Ram Gopal Varma, one of the most controversial and spine-chilling action movies ever made. Rakht Charitra has a number of scenes with much blood and violence, and RGV himself had warned the movie is not for women and children.

After watching the movie, Alva commented she was freaked out with her fiance's role and wishes she never sees him like that in real life. Vivek Oberoi responded that mindless anger usually fades away as one ages and matures. The actor added he realised the consequences of anger from his experience.

Priyanka Alva, a performing artist, works with her mother renowned dancer Nandini Alva. The mother-daughter duo run an organisation Artistes Foundation For Arts in Bangalore. Vivek Oberoi and Priyanka Alva will marry on 29th October in Bangalore.

Original Star Trek cast member George Takei has married longtime partner Brad Altman.

The 71-year-old, who played Lieutenant Hikaru Sulu in the sci-fi franchise, has been with Altman, 54, for 21 years. They became the first gay couple to gain a marriage licence in West Hollywood earlier this year.

The couple tied the knot at LA's Japanese American National Museum in front of 200 guests.

According to Asianweek, Star Trek alumni Walter Koenig and Nichelle Nichols acted as best man and best lady at the ceremony.

The actor son of Star Trek veteran Walter Koenig has disappeared while visiting friends in Canada, police say.
Andrew Koenig, 41, was last seen in Vancouver on 14 February - two days before he was due to fly back home to Los Angeles.
Police said he had "recently been despondent and his family and friends are concerned for his well-being".
Andrew is best known for his recurring role as Boner on US sitcom Growing Pains between 1985-1989.
Walter Koenig, 71, who played Chekov in the original Star Trek series and films, told a local news TV station: "He's been depressed - he's trying to get ahead in this business and he's been working at it a long time."
The star posted additional details on his website, where he called his son "a funny, caring, gifted and passionate multi-talented young man", adding he and his wife would fly to Vancouver on Tuesday to join the search.
Vancouver police constable Tim Fanning said investigators had been working to find the 41-year-old since getting the missing persons report last Thursday.
"There's nothing right now to believe that anything has happened to him," he said."We're certainly very concerned, as his family and friends. But there's no evidence to believe that there's foul play involved at this point."
He added bank transactions and mobile phone records made since the time of Andrew's disappearance had helped give police some clues.
Investigators have focused their search in Vancouver's 1000-acre Stanley Park, where Koenig liked to walk and was last seen.

The actor son of Star Trek veteran Walter Koenig has been found dead in a wood.
in Vancouver, police have saidKoenig said his 41-year-old son Andrew, who suffered from depression, "took his own life".
Police spokeswoman Jana McGuinness said she did not believe anyone else had been involved, adding that a coroner had now taken over the investigation.
Andrew was best known for his recurring role as 'Boner' on US sitcom Growing Pains, between 1985-1989.
His parents reported him missing when he failed to return home to Los Angeles after visiting friends in Vancouver earlier this month.
'Talk to somebody'
On Thursday, his body was discovered in Vancouver's 1,000-acre Stanley Park, where Koenig liked to walk and was last seen.
Walter, who played Lieutenant Pavel Chekov in the original Star Trek series, said his son was "obviously in a lot of pain" to have taken his own life.
In a statement he said that Andrew had given away his belongings and had not been taking his medication. He urged others suffering from depression to seek help.
"If you are one of those people who can't handle it any more, know people are out there who really care before you make that final decision," Koenig, 71, said. "Talk to somebody."

The Rajasthan ATS has reportedly levelled a number of sensational claims in its chargesheet that was filed on Friday in a local Ajmer court.
According to the 806-page chargesheet, the conspiracy for the blast was headed by Swami Sananand, who arranged meetings in Jammu, Indore and Ujjain. The conspiracy to plant bombs in Ajmer and several other cities of India was hatched at the Gujarati Samaj guest house on Jaipur's MI Road. The ATS has claimed in its report that the secret meeting, held on October 31, 2005 was allegedly attended by several leaders of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), including its Pracharak Indresh Kumar. The chargesheet claims that an organisation called "Jai Vande Matram", founded by one of the accused Sunil Joshi, planned and executed the Ajmer dargah blast on October 11, 2007.
Joshi was killed near Mhow in Madhya Pradesh two months after the blast. Jai Vande Matram, according to the ATS, was formed by extremists to hit back at Muslim terror groups operating in the country. The chargesheet states that investigations against Ramdeen, Sandeep Dangre and others is on. The three accused named in the chargesheet have been booked under Sections 302, 307, 323, 295 A (explosive Act), 201 and 120 B of the Indian Penal Code.
The next hearing in the case would be held on October 26. The ATS produced Chandrashekhar in court, while Devender and Lokesh are in Hyderabad for interrogations related to the Mecca Masjid blast. However, the local leaders of the RSS view it as a conspiracy to defame their organisation by the Congress ruled State Government. The 806-page chargesheet was filed after tracking the accused for three years and 178 days of investigation. As per records, two bombs were planted in the dargah with timers attached to mobile phones. One of these remained unexploded and was found next day by the local police. "The SIM of this unexploded bomb was taken to the FSL and it was found that the same number was saved in other telephones of the accused as Vande Matram," Timesnow quoted the report.
According to advocates, the CJM court where the chargesheet is filed on Friday will transfer the case to session court as initiating trial in the sections which are framed against the accused is not in the jurisdiction of magistrate.

Big B gets a standing ovation
The entire Bachchan clan came in full swing for the prestigious awards ceremony to witness Amitabh receiving the best actor award for his performance as a 13-year-old boy suffering from progeria in ‘Paa’.

Big B arrived with wife Jaya, son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai.

Incidentally, while entering the stage to receive the award, Amitabh’s eyes went moist when the audience at the auditorium gave him a standing ovation.

The President of India presenting award for Best Actor for Paa. Eyes moist as the audience gives a standing ovation. Which in formal functions is an abnormality.
"The president whispers to me 'I have seen your film and loved it'. I gave an embarrassed laugh.”
