Bollywood honored with prestigious National AwardIt indeed had been a proud moment for Bollywood, after its winners were honored by President Pratibha Patil at the 57th National Awards at Vigyan Bhavan in New Dehli on Friday.
At the National film awards presentation ceremony, Bollywood took 15 awards.
Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan, Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, Lyricist Swanand Kirkire, Farooq Shaikh . and singers Shaan and Shantanu Moitra were honored at the 57th National Awards ceremony.Big B gets a standing ovation
The entire Bachchan clan came in full swing for the prestigious awards ceremony to witness Amitabh receiving the best actor award for his performance as a 13-year-old boy suffering from progeria in ‘Paa’.
Big B arrived with wife Jaya, son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai.
"The president whispers to me 'I have seen your film and loved it'. I gave an embarrassed laugh.”
Not only did Amitabh walk away with the country’s most honored award, even his son Abhishek received the award as the producer for the same film.
"Felt a sense of pride and happiness to see Abhishek walk up to the president for his award as producer for Paa,” further added Senior Bachchan.
Abhishek is happy after receiving the award‘Paa’ and ‘3 Idiots’ won top honors at the gala, 57th National Awards event. Abhishek looked perfectly content when his film ’Paa’ got him the most esteemed award as the producer.
Talking about the prestigious honour, Abhishek stated, “I am really happy after receiving such a prestigious honour, this is a very important moment. Such awards make us realise that we have to perform even better in future.”
