It is a reasonable question to ask although scars and cellulite are not the same, they do have many similarities.
Stretch marks, like cellulite, are caused by damage to the dermis, the elastic middle levels that give skin its shape. In the case of stretch marks the damage is persistent in areas of your body that were particularly stressed by stretching for a long period of time like during pregnancy for example. If you think of an elastic band that is stretched over time, it loses its elasticity and then becomes weak. This is what happens with your connective tissue. Once parts of it become brittle, the newly ridged texture and lack of elasticity will become visible. These scars can appear everywhere.
